Safer Driving In Stoke?

Posted:

Well I would surly hope so…. But the stats don’t show that, 57% increase in road deaths in Stoke for 2011, third worst in the country!  I am really not into politics, just safer roads in Stoke and giving driving lessons in a safe environment within Stoke on Trent.   City councillor Ruth Rosenau, cabinet member for regeneration, planning and transportation, said: "We continue to monitor road usage very carefully and look into ways to improve road safety, where there is evidence to suggest this is needed and there are funds to do so."A wonderfully worded statement with the get out clause “and there are funds to do so”. Staffordshire CountyCouncil cut its contribution to the Staffordshire Safer Roads Program from £1.3 million a year to £368,000. Stoke-on-Trent City Council reduced its contribution from £335,000 to just £98,000 in 2011 and it will fall to £60,000 this year. This can only be bad news for safer driving in Stoke.
